Delegation of the University of Montenegro composed of Dusko Bjelica, PhD, Chairperson of the Steering Committee UMNE, Natasa Kostic, PhD, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Ana Dragutinovic, the International Relations Office Manager and Midorag Zarubica, Head of the Information System Centre, are staying in a two-day study visit to the University in Ljubljana within Erasmus+ structural project “Fostering Internationalization on Universities in Montenegro through Efficient Strategic Planning” – IESP coordinated by the University of Montenegro.
IESP project, with implementation started on November 15th 2019, is aimed at improving international competitiveness of Montenegrin universities that participate in the project through definition of optimal capacity reinforcement model for different aspects of internationalization. The project partners are: the University of Donja Gorica, University Mediterranean, the Ministry of Education, The Ministry of Science, Quality Control and Assurance Centre in Higher Education, University in Ljubljana, University in Cadiz and University Cote d’Azure from Nice.
This visit is the first study visit planed within this project and has the aim to present best practices of the University in Ljubljana in the domain of internationalization. Montenegrin partners in the project have the opportunity to find out about the Internationalization Strategy of the University in Ljubljana, strategic approach of establishing international partnerships, taking part in international programs, networks and associations. Centers and offices have been presented that on the level of the University in Ljubljana participate in creating policy of internationalization with professional support in its implementation. A special attention is paid to presentation of university Office for Support to Research, International Cooperation Office, Project Office, Career Advisory Office, and International Relations Office. On the second day of the visit it was planned to present Slovenian Internationalization Strategy of Higher Education, Slovenian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, Quality indicators of the internationalization process, as well as undergraduate, master and doctoral studies of the University in Ljubljana in the internationalization context.
In a two-year implementation of the IESP project the University of Montenegro will develop Strategy of Internationalization with Action Plan and related documents, it will improve competences and skills of teaching and administrative staff for participating in the internationalization process and improve preconditions for increase of mobility of students, academic, research and non-academic staff, develop mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation of internationalization process. We expect this project to improve significantly international competitiveness and transparency of the University of Montenegro as result of improved capacities in the field of internationalization as well as implementation of strategic plans and carrying out concrete measures in this domain.
