One of the specific objectives of the IESP project is to improve the knowledge and skills of teaching and administrative staff to participate in the internationalization process, as well as to provide preconditions for attracting more foreign students to study at Montenegrin universities.

The specific objectives of the project will be realized through several key tasks which, among others, include capacity building for participation in the internationalization process through staff training, introduction of English language teaching in selected subjects at the level of basic and master studies and development of teaching materials in English. It is planned that from the academic year 2021/2022 at each university unit of the University of Montenegro, students will be offered at least 10 subjects in English at the undergraduate level and at least 5 subjects in English at the master's level.

In order to improve the knowledge of English for specific purposes and the teaching skills of all forms of teaching in English, the University of Montenegro organizes teaching training for the teaching staff that will conduct classes in English in the winter semester of the academic year 2020/2021.

In addition to the teaching staff, the administrative staff of the Rectorate will also have the opportunity to improve their knowledge of English.

The courses started in November 2020 and will last for 12 weeks. Classes are taught by professors of the Faculty of Philology twice a week. Before the start of the course, the participants were tested and the level of knowledge was assessed, and after the end of the course, the participants will be tested again, on the basis of which progress will be evaluated.

For the needs of the courses, and as part of the IESP project activities, two classrooms will be equipped with modern teaching equipment, one in the Rectorate, and the other at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Montenegro. In accordance with the current situation and the prescribed Government measures to combat the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus, classes are currently conducted online, via the BigBlueButton Moodle platform.

The IESP project is a two-year project funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus + capacity building program in higher education. The project partners are: University of Donja Gorica, University of the Mediterranean, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science, Agency for Control and Quality Assurance of Higher Education, University of Ljubljana, University of Cadiz and University of the Cote d'Azur in Nice.
