For the second year in a row, the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor of the University of Montenegro will organize an international interdisciplinary six-day summer school (LLL program) entitled "Sustainable development of yachting and cruise industry" in the period from July 3 to 8, 2023. The summer school program is intended for students and employees in the maritime industry. Participants of the summer school program will have the opportunity to receive a certificate with 2 ECTS credits upon completion of the training.
Exchange Opportunities at the University of Ljubljana presented to students of Montenegrin universities
Advisor for international cooperation of the University of Ljubljana, Mr. Aljoša Belcijan, gave presentations on the exchange opportunities at the University of Ljubljana for students of three Montenegrin universities, which are partners in the Erasmus+ project "Strengthening internationalization at universities in Montenegro through effective strategic planning" (IESP).
Successful Examples of Internationalization Presented on International Training Week for Partner Universities
Successful examples of the internationalization of the University of Montenegro, new summer schools and study programs in English, were presented at the International Training Week for staff of partner universities, at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro, in Podgorica. The training brought together representatives of partner universities from Slovenia, Spain, Germany and Romania who are staying at UMNE from November 7 to 11, 2022.
Presentation on Exchange Opportunities at the University of Ljubljana
Presentation on exchange programs at the University of Ljubljana will be held on November 7, starting at 11:30 a.m. in the Blue Hall of the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro. Exchange opportunities will be presented by the advisor for international cooperation of the University of Ljubljana, Mr. Aljoša Belcijan.
IESP project documentation disseminated to the Vice-deans for International Cooperation
At the meeting held in the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro with the Vice-deans for International Cooperation on October 26th 2022, the supporting documentation for mobility of students and staff and guidelines for project implementation were presented. The documents will be very useful for daily work of Vice-deans with administration of mobility projects and other international projejcts, but also to all those dealing with internationalization activities.

Summer school on "Sustainable development of yachting and cruise industry"
Summer school (Lifelong Learning program) on "Sustainable development of yachting and cruise industry" will be held as a part of the Erasmus+ CBHE project “Fostering Internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through Efficient Strategic Planning (IESP)”, project No. 609675-EPP-1-2019-1-ME-EPPKA2-CBHE-SP.
The IESP summer school 2022 on “Sustainable Development of Yachting and Cruise Industry” is NOW open to students and professionals. It is a 6-day accredited summer school providing 2 ECTS for students. It will be held from July 18th to July 23rd, 2022, at the University of Montenegro, Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor.
Presentation of Experiences of the University of Ljubljana on Double and Joint Study Programs
As part of the IESP project, a presentation of Double degrees (Double degree program) and Joint degree programs (Joint study program) was held at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro. Pointing out the importance of strengthening international cooperation in order to establish a system of double and joint diplomas, good practices of the University of Ljubljana were presented. On that occasion, the importance of cooperation based on the development of a sustainable economy and inclusiveness was emphasized.

Department for Language Support to Internationalization at the University of Montenegro, formed as the result of the Erasmus + project "Strengthening Internationalization at Montenegrin Universities through Effective Strategic Planning" - IESP supports training of teaching staff for teaching in English.
IESP English Course - Awarding Ceremony
At the University of Montenegro, certificates were awarded to 41 participants from the academic and non-academic staff for successfully attending English language courses organized as part of the Erasmus + project IESP (Strengthening Internationalization at Montenegrin Universities through Effective Strategic Planning) coordinated by the University of Montenegro.
Certificates were awarded by four professors of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Montenegro who taught, Dr. Dragana Čarapić, Dr. Petar Božović, Dr. Milena Mrdak-Mićović, and Dr. Branka Živković.
IESP project promoted in the city of Podgorica
Within the fifth edition of the Erasmus+ days celebration organized in October 2021, the IESP project was promoted on two advertising boards placed in the city of Podgorica, where the seat of three Montenegrin universities participating in the project is.
Workshop on Interculturality in Higher Education Organized for the Teaching Staff of Montenegrin Parnters on 3-4 June
Online workshop on the topic of Interculturality in Higher Education was organized for the teaching staff of the Montenegrin universities on 3-4 June 2021. The workshop was carried out by dr. Špela Razpotnik, an assistant professor of Social Pedagogy at the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Education.
Internationalization is closely related to the intercultural dimensions and competencies. The workshop was focused on the conditions and challenges that lie behind the implementation of internationalization and the identification of differences in implementing the concept of multiculturalism and interculturalism.

Info Day: Support for students with disabilities through Erasmus+ projects
The University of Montenegro organized information day Support for students with disabilities through Erasmus+ projects on Friday, 4th June 2021, at 12.00h.
Representatives of the National Erasmus+ Office in Montenegro and the International Relations Office of the University of Montenegro presented the exchange possibilities for students with disabilities, as well as support that is provided through implemented Erasmus+ Capacity Building Projects in Higher Education.

Monitoring Visit conducted by the NEO
The National Erasmus+ Office in Montenegro conducted a monitoring visit of the Erasmus+ project Fostering Internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through Efficient Strategic Planning – IESP on 14th April 2021. The monitoring visit was organized on the initiative of the European Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency within their regular activities of project implementation monitoring, familiarization with the achieved results and consideration of possible problems during project implementation.

The series of training sessions organized within the Erasmus+ project „Fostering Internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through Efficient Strategic Planning – IESP“ is continued with a workshop „Teaching multicultural groups of students in HE settings“ organized by the Centre for Pedagogical Education of the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana.
Meetings held to plan development of summer school programs in English at the University of Montenegro
Two meetings were organized on 15th and 18th March 2021 with the purpose of planning interdisciplinary programs of summer schools entitled: Sustainability in yachting and cruise tourism and Entrepreneurship in heritage tourism.
Online Training on Design of Courses in English Language
Within implementation of Erasmus + project Fostering Internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through Efficient Strategic Planning – IESP, online training on the organization of teaching in foreign languages was held on 2nd and 5th March. Teaching in foreign languages is one of the preconditions for attracting more international students and the internationalization at-home process.
4th IESP Project Management Board Meeting
On-line meeting of IESP Project Management Board was held on 25 February. The main objective of the meeting was planning the project activities for the second project year, especially in view of the Covid 19 pandemic and the fact that the study visits and physical meetings planned within the project could not be implemented.
Internationalization Strategy of the University of Montenegro adopted by the University Senate
The University of Montenegro Senate adopted the Internationalization Strategy of the University of Montenegro at its session held on 23 December 2020. The Internationalization Strategy represents the academic agenda and the strategic framework for enhancing international visibility and recognition of the University of Montenegro. Through strategic planning in the field of internationalization the University of Montenegro will strive to develop it institutional capacities, strengthen the international competitiveness and achieve the position of an internationally recognized university, above all in the European Higher Education Area and the European Research Area.
English Language Courses for Specific Purposes Organized for Academic and Administrative Staff within the IESP Project at the University of Montenegro
One of the specific objectives of the IESP project is to improve the knowledge and skills of teaching and administrative staff to participate in the internationalization process, as well as to provide preconditions for attracting more foreign students to study at Montenegrin universities.
On-line IESP Project Management Board meeting held on 13 November 2020
Management Board of the Erasmus + project Fostering Internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through Efficient Strategic Planning - IESP held an online meeting on 13 November. The first part of the meeting was dedicated to presentation of the draft Internationalization Strategies developed within the project by three Montenegrin HEIs. The rationales for developing draft strategies, the structure of the documents, the data presented in them as well as the priority areas covered and future development directions defined by the internationalization strategies were presented. Each document was commented by the EU partners with examples of their best practices and suggestions for improvement of particular segments.
Benchmarking Analyses of Montenegrin universities and Guidelines for Internationalization of Montenegrin HEIs presented at the virtual meeting of IESP partners
On 9 November 2020 the IESP project consortium met on-line to discuss three Benchmarking Analyses on internationalization practices developed by Montenegrin universities and the Guidelines for internationalization of Montenegrin HEIs that were produced based on them. The meeting was summoned and conducted by the leader of WP1, University Cote d’Azur.
Virtual training in internationalisation organized by the University of Cadiz for administrative staff of Montenegrin universities
Within WP2: Capacity Building for Internationalisation through staff training and equipment upgrade, the University of Cadiz organized virtual staff training in internationalization for representatives of Montenegrin universities administrative staff.

Intensive activities within the implementation of the Erasmus + project "Strengthening internationalization at universities in Montenegro through effective strategic planning - IESP" continued with a two-day online training on the organization of international summer schools.
Virtual Study Visit of the University of Cadiz
Virtual study visit of the University of Cadiz was organized on July 24. The virtual study visit was attended by representatives of Montenegrin partner universities, ministries and the Agency for Control and Quality Assurance of HE of Montenegro.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic the originally planned study visit scheduled for March could not be held. Instead, the virtual study visit was organized as part of the remediation measures adopted at the on-line Project Management Board meeting.
On-line training on strategic planning for Montenegrin HEIs representatives
On-line training on strategic planning for Montenegrin HEIs representatives was held within IESP project on 16 and 18 June. The training was led by professor Tomaž Čater from the University of Ljubljana School of Economics and Business. The main concepts in the strategic planning process were presented, and explanation of strategic analysis, strategy formulation and implementation given.
On-line training of young researchers on Internationalization of Research and Innovation
Within the Erasmus + project Fostering Internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through Efficient Strategic Planning - IESP on-line training on the topic of internationalization of research and innovation is held, which will last for seven working days. The training is attended by around 30 young researchers of Montenegrin universities involved in the project - doctoral students, PhDs and assistant professors.

Virtual study visit of the University Côte d’Azur, one of the EU partners on the IESP project, took place on June 3. The virtual study visit was attended by representatives of Montenegrin partner universities, ministries and the Agency for Control and Quality Assurance of HE of Montenegro.
On-line meeting of the IESP Project Management Board
Members of IESP Project Management Board met via Zoom platform for an on-line meeting on May 18th. The meeting was an opportunity to take stock of the activities implemented so far and to plan activities in the months to come.
On-line Preventive Monitoring Meeting
Preventive monitoring meeting within the CBHE Erasmus + Project " Fostering Internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through Efficient Strategic Planning – IESP“ was held on 27th April 2020. The meeting was organized by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and the National Erasmus + Office. Due to the circumstances stemming from the outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic, the meeting was held on-line by means of the Zoom application. Representatives of all Montenegrin partners on the project attended the meeting.
First Study Visit to the University of Ljubljana
Delegation of the University of Montenegro composed of Dusko Bjelica, PhD, Chairperson of the Steering Committee UMNE, Natasa Kostic, PhD, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Ana Dragutinovic, the International Relations Office Manager and Midorag Zarubica, Head of the Information System Centre, are staying in a two-day study visit to the University in Ljubljana within Erasmus+ structural project “Fostering Internationalization on Universities in Montenegro through Efficient Strategic Planning” – IESP coordinated by the University of Montenegro.

Introducing teaching in English for selected courses on undergraduate and master studies from academic 2021/2022 year is one of benefits brought to the University of Montenegro by the project Fostering Internationalization in Universities in Montenegro through Efficient Strategic Planning.
Kick-off Meeting at the University of Montenegro
The University of Montenegro is coordinator of the only structural project, named Fostering Internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through Efficient Strategic Planning - IESP, approved in 2019 approved for funding by the European Commission within Erasmus+ program of Capacity Building in Higher Education. On this occasion in the University Rectorate on January 15th and 16th the first meeting of representatives of partner institutions participating in the project was held in the University Rectorate. Next to presentation of the project itself, on the meeting was agreed implementation of all activities in the domain of signing partnership agreements and members of the project consortium were presented. The project partners are: the University of Donja Gorica, the Mediterranean University, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science, the Agency for Quality Assurance and Control in Higher Education as well as partner universities from the EU: University in Ljubljana, University in Cadiz and the University Cote d’ Azure from Nice. Total budget of a two-year project is 683.014 euros.
